Understanding Resale Levy
What is the HDB Resale Levy?
The HDB resale levy is a financial obligation for flat owners who have previously purchased a subsidised HDB flat and wish to buy another subsidised flat from HDB.
It recovers part of the housing subsidy from the earlier flat. The levy amount depends on the flat type of the previous subsidised flat that was sold.
The resale levy is deducted from the sale proceeds of the current flat when you purchase a new subsidised flat from HDB.

Eligibility
Who Needs to Pay Resale Levy?
You have previously bought a subsidised HDB flat and are buying another new flat from HDB.
You received a CPF housing grant for your previous HDB flat and are buying a new subsidised flat.
You are buying a resale flat (not directly from HDB). No resale levy applies.
You are buying a private property. Resale levy does not apply to private purchases.
